Description: |
A fully standardised, individual test for use with early years/infant school pupils, designed to (a) identify the bottom 25% in each year group before reading difficulties become severe, (b) diagnose and profile each child's areas of weakness, and (c) match appropriate follow-up teaching activities to each child's own needs. |
Synopsis: |
The standardized "Early Literacy Diagnostic Test" has been designed for individual use with pre-school and infant children. The test highlights children's areas of aptitude and weakness in the skills of reading, and allows potential difficulties to be detected at an early age. The test profiles three aspects of early literacy, which are known to be reliable indicators of future reading attainment: book and story concepts; word recognition; and sounds and letters. The accompanying teacher's handbook is also available, which provides comprehensive information on interpreting the results and how to use the findings to adopt "targeted" teaching activities which match each child's needs. |
