| Synopsis: |
The thirty-five wooden model boats found in the tomb of Tut'ankhamun are important in that they are the last large group to have survived from ancient Egypt and the only complete one known from the Eighteenth Dynasty. They therefore represent our main evidence in the round for vessels of the period, supplementing the information provided by reliefs and paintings and supplying important details on many aspects of ancient Egyptian boat design and development. The volume also includes a study of eleven magical oars discovered in the Burial Chamber. |
