The "Draft Immigraton Bill (Cm. 7666)" is intended to consolidate, simplify and repeal all the provisions of eleven major acts in this area since the Immigration Act 1971. The Bill is arranged in 20 parts: Permission to enter and stay in the UK; Immigration controls; powers to examine etc; Power to obtain biometric information; Expulsion orders and removal etc. from the UK; Powers to detain and immigration bail; Detained persons and removal centres etc; Powers to stop, arrest, enter and search etc; Appeals against immigration decisions; The Special Immigration Appeals Commission; Support; Information; Illegal workers; Carriers' liability; Civil penalty procedure; and, Inspection and oversight. Immigration advisers and immigration service providers - to be drafted: Offences; General; General supplementary provisions; and, Final provisions. |
