The Food Standards Agency was set up to protect public health and restore public confidence in the way food safety decisions are made. The FSA is a UK-wide body and a non-ministerial government department governed by a Board appointed to act in the public interest. The job of the FSA is to protect consumers from health risks, provide guidance to the public on healthy eating and work with the food industry as well as giving advice to government ministers on all issues relating to food safety and standards.
