Volume 11 includes invited contributions and revised versions of papers presented at the 2005 International Conference on Advances in Management (ICAM), held in Washington, DC. This volume further exemplifies ICAM's comparative orientation, in its broad scope of management perspectives, in its diverse locations of research and its application, and in its comparisons of findings, methodologies, and operational definitions. Part 1, "Research Method, Organizational Culture, and Learning," contains three chapters dealing with external validity in survey research, indicators of knowledge competence, and the role of organizations in knowledge-based systems. Part 2, "Organizational Behavior and Effectiveness," contains three chapters dealing with organizational culture and network of organizational relationships, stressors in twenty-one occupations, and the relationships of personality and organizational resources to job burnout.Part 3, "Human Resource Management and Entrepreneurship," contains three chapters dealing with the assessment of mentoring approaches, employees' perception of involuntary/voluntary turnover, and the integration of entrepreneurial-orientation and resource-based views of the firm. Part 4, "International and Cross-Cultural Management," contains three chapters dealing with international and cross-cultural research in organizations with the topics including expatriate adjustment, international assignment and employee development, and the relationship between emotional intelligence and transformational leadership.
