Synopsis: |
The Reformers described themselves as 'evangelical' because their theology focused on the evangel, the Gospel. It is surprising how little research has been done on what the Reformers meant by the word 'Gospel'. This work examines the Reformation understanding of this 'Gospel' in its systematic theological context against the backdrop of medieval theology. It shows that despite common ground between the Lutheran and Reformed wings of the Reformation there were subtle differences that eventually entered their respective confessions. -Publisher |
