Blarney Poems |
Synopsis: |
Frank Condon was born in the parish of Dysertmoon in the County of Killkenny in July 1934. He is the middle child of a family of five siblings. He served his country with two years stationed at the Curragh Camp. After that, he then studied at St. Patricks in Dublin as a student nurse (R.M.N.). Frank got married and had four children. Following that, with his wife Monica, the two boys and the two girls set off to see the world. Their travels took them to South Africa, Australia, and Singapore to mention but a few. On their return from abroad, all his children matured and left the nest, departing with memories of an Irish upbringing. He is now retired amid six grandchildren. Both children and grandchildren have Blarney in their blood. Frank has acted on stage at many venues in and around Sheffield. He has been a guest many times on B.B.C Radio Sheffield reading his own stories. Frank was Chairman of the Claddagh Players' Amature Dramatic Company for several years and was also Vice Chair with High Green Operatic Society. In recent years, Frank has had his stories and poems published in many leading anthologies and monthly publications thus leading to Frank winning a prestigious first prize writers award. He was presented in Listowel writers' week festival with his short story writer's prize. Although Frank has only been writing for a short time, Frank says he has been telling stories long before he could talk! |
