Synopsis: |
New Poetries III includes a dozen writers from around the world. It takes is to real and imagined landscapes in both Americas, eastern and western Europe, Africa and elsewhere. The age range of the poets included is wider than in earlier anthologies, and the formal scope, too, is vast, spanning the Augustan concerns of some and the romantic strategies of others. Each has been brushed by one or another of the wings of mdoernism. Each knows that in verse laughter has a necessary place, and that social and political concerns are inherent in language itself. |
