Synopsis: |
The Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted on 20 November 1989, and this study explores the extent to which the Convention has been successfully integrated into the law and practice of individual states. The study addresses the legal and institutional arrangements, which have been put in place at the international, regional and national levels, supported by effective promotion and structures of accountability. The study also provides a critical and constructive analysis of how far the international community and individual states have come in their efforts to establish the normative, legal, and institutional frameworks which are essential if the aspirations of the Convention on the Rights of the Child are to be translated into reality. |
