This is the first collection of scholarly articles to be published specifically on Australian television. Although media studies are part of the curriculum in Australia, there are still few books which deal specifically with Australian television. It applies the benefits of contemporary developments in media and cultural studies to the analysis of Australian television, covering a wide range of programming and theoretical issues. The contributors to ***Australian Television*** include some of the leading researchers in Australian television and cultural studies and their articles employ a wide range of methods -- from semiotic analyses to cultural histories. Despite their dealings with often quite sophisticated problems, the chapters are written in an accessible and lively manner.
