Each contribution explores the thematic question of how the unique societies that developed from British settler-colonialism made and continue to make the spaces they occupy. In essays and poems, authors explore the spatial legacies of contact between Indigenous peoples and newcomers in a fascinating journey that takes readers from snowy deserts to emerging urban landscapes, and from census data to contemporary Indigenous music scenes. Collectively the essays offer a rich social history of the gridded, patchworked and layered visages that make up today's settler-colonial space. |
