This book, an account of the Relief of the Peking Legations in 1900, an expedition to rescue diplomas and others trapped during the Boxer Rising, was originally published in 1902. The author, Lt. Colonel Vaughan, commanded one of the first units to arrive at the Legation Quarter. The new edition is fully illustrated with eight black and white photographs and a sketch, four pages of colour reproductions of Vaughan's paintings of soldiers of the multi-national force, including Russian Cossacks and Japanese Cavalry, and four maps. |
