Denmark joined the European Economic Community (which later became the EU) in 1973. Today, it is excused from following certain aspects of the EU, since it wants to retain a degree of freedom from the organization. It has a population of 5,500,000. Its ethnic groups include: Scandinavian 94 per cent, and others 6 per cent. Its exports include: machinery and equipment, meat, dairy products, fish, chemicals, furniture, ships, and windmills. Its EU Export Partners are: Germany, Sweden, UK, France, and Netherlands. Its imports cover: machinery and equipment, raw materials, chemicals, and grain. The EU Import Partners include: Germany, Sweden, Netherlands, France, UK, and Italy. |
