Symmetry principles play a fundamental role in modern nuclear and particle physics. The study of symmetry principles, which govern the Universe in which we live, is absolutely fundamental to modern subatomic physics. Our quantum field theories are built around these symmetries which their occasional violation not only surprises or delights, but can also offer deep insight into the dynamics of complicated systems. This meeting brought together experts from around the world who are pushing our knowledge of symmetries such as parity, charge conjugation, and even Lorentz invariance to the limits. Future developments in theoretical subatomic physics may be completely altered by hitherto unexpected discoveries of symmetry breaking.
