| Synopsis: |
During the fight between Yuber and Geddoe (continued from end of vol. 4) Hugo grabs ahold of the fire crest (rune?) and Geddoe suffers an injury to the arm. Hugo's contact with the fire rune binds him with the fire rune but as Geddoe explains later, this could mean danger for everyone as the holder of the rune is in constant danger of being consumed by the rune's powerful/violent nature. Nonetheless, Hugo accepts his role as "Flame Champion." Back at the village, Hugo's mother has decided that the Karaya will attack the enemy headquarters at night. That night, the Lizards find themselves attacking an empty headquarters because their plans were known beforehand and they get totally slaughtered by a counter-attack!! The few remaining lizards make it back to the Karaya village and Lucia lies that they have received word that the Flame Champion is coming to bring everyone's fighting spirit back. The next day the two armies are pitted against each other but Saria's show of rune-powers intimidates and is just too much for the Grasslands folks! The overwhelming force of the insects and summoners on the Harmonia side force the Karaya to retreat.Back at the city, the soldiers want to gather again and really bring down the Grasslands folk, but Salome says to be patient and wait...for the Grasslands' defeat. He and his 4 loyal knights (the ones loyal to Chris back in vol. 1) do a coup d'etat, kicking out the men in office who stand in their way and now are ready to return to the battlefield! |
