Description: |
All six episodes from the first season of the BAFTA-winning drama written by Paul Abbott, following the tumultuous lives of the employees of Mackintosh Textiles factory in an unnamed northern town. In Episode 1, Stuart Leach (John Simm) returns after being missing for over a year. But has he really lost his memory as he claims? Episode 2 sees Yvonne (Sarah Lancashire) attempting to find a way out of her desperate situation by burning her house down and claiming the insurance money. However, owing to a tragic misunderstanding, she is unaware that her children are asleep inside... In Episode 3, the life of lowly shopfloor worker Kit (Andrew Sheridan) is turned upside down when his boss's beautiful wife Katherine (Christine Tremarco) seduces him. Episode 4 finds Steve Robinson (Wil Johnson) and his wife Sylvia (Diane Parish) becoming the victims of a vicious break-in - but the police, when they arrive, are more concerned with the illegal contents of the Robinsons' ashtray... In Episode 5, Trudy (Lesley Sharp) is in shock after the death of her father, and decides to make some dramatic changes to her life. Finally, Episode 6 sees Katherine finally leaving her husband, Mack (Philip Glenister) - and it looks as though he might lose the factory with her. |
