Description: |
Two more cases for the ale-drinking Oxford detective. In 'Death is Now My Neighbour' Chief Inspector Morse (John Thaw) and his trusty sidekick Sergeant Lewis (Kevin Whately) are called in to investigate when Oxford physiotherapist Rachel James is shot dead. Within twenty-four hours, the journalist next door is also murdered with the same gun. Was the first death a case of mistaken identity? How do the killings tie up with the elections for Master of Lonsdale College? In 'The Wench is Dead' a hospitalised Morse becomes interested in a case dating back to 1859 in which the body of a young woman was found in the canal and the two boatmen who had been transporting her to London were hanged for her murder. Morse believes that the men were innocent, and recruits young graduate constable Adrian Kershaw (Matthew Finney) to assist him on what Chief Superintendent Strange (James Grout) warns him could be his last investigation. |
