Description: |
Three-volume set of films by the French filmmakers who were also husband and wife. 'The Chronicle of Anna Magdalene Bach' (1968) is a portrayal of Johann Sebastian Bach's musical life, mainly showing him conducting or playing, as told in voiceover by his wife Anna (Christiana Lang). In 'Sicilia' (1999), a returning emigre learns about the Sicilian way of life from those he meets en route. Finally, 'Une Visite Au Louvre' (2004) is based on a chapter of Joachim Gasquet's book, 'Cezanne', that recounts the famous artist's visit to the Louvre. A variety of works are subsequently examined alongside Cezanne's forthright comments. |
