Description: |
Canadian drama in which a doctor has to deal with the loss of her partner, and try to bring order back into the life of her rebellious stepdaughter. A gynaecologist in a Toronto research laboratory, Dr. Finn Jefferies (Brooke Johnson) shares her life with long-term partner Nancy (Gail Maurice), and her eleven-year-old daughter Zelly (Maya Ritter). But when Nancy dies unexpectedly, Finn soon finds it hard coming to terms with holding down a job whilst trying to rediscover her maternal instincts. As she becomes more engrossed in her work, Finn is oblivious to Zelly's attention-seeking antics - shoplifting, smoking dope and skipping school. Finally walking away from her job over a clash of principles, Finn takes over Nancy's former medical practice at a downtown abortion clinic. But things take a turn for the worse when she becomes the target of an anti-abortionist sniper, heralding the arrival of police officer Diana Peris (Yanna McIntosh), who quickly forms a bond with both Finn and Zely. |
