Description: |
Collection of four horror films. 'Taking Lives' (2004) stars Angelina Jolie as FBI Special Agent Illeana Scott, a specialist in criminal profiling whose unconventional approach and offbeat methods belie her professionalism and reputation for accuracy. She is assigned to join a team of detectives in Montreal, Canada, who are investigating the case of a serial killer who assumes the lives and identities of his victims. But her fellow detectives resent her abilities and cool demeanour, and, as the case unfolds, her increasing isolation leads her to find comfort and intimacy in a very dangerous place. In 'Dead Calm' (1988), John Ingram (Sam Neill) and his wife Rae (Nicole Kidman), alone on a sailing trip, rescue a young man (Billy Zane) from his disabled ship. He claims to be the sole survivor of a food poisoning attack, but when Ingram boards the ship he discovers that something far more sinister has been going on, and that his young wife is in considerable danger. In 'House of Wax' (2005), what begins as a weekend getaway for six friends becomes a terrifying fight for their lives. A road trip to one of the biggest college football games of the year takes a turn for the worse for Carly (Elisha Cuthbert), Paige (Paris Hilton) and their friends when they decide to camp out for the night before heading to the game. A confrontation with a mysterious trucker at the camp site leaves everyone unsettled, and Carly has her hands full trying to keep the peace between her boyfriend Wade (Jared Padalecki) and her hot-headed brother Nick (Chad Michael Murray). They wake up the next morning to find that their car might have been deliberately tampered with. At the risk of being stranded, they accept a local's invitation for a ride into Ambrose, the only town for miles. Once there, they are drawn to Ambrose's main attraction - Trudy's House of Wax, which is filled with remarkably life-like wax sculptures. But as they soon discover, there is a shocking reason the exhibits look so real. As the friends uncover the town's dark secrets, they are stalked by a mysterious killer and find themselves in a bloody battle for survival. The group must find a way out of Ambrose - or become permanent additions to the House of Wax. Finally, in 'Sphere' (1998), a mysterious deadly force has been discovered beneath the surface of the Pacific. Psychologist Dr. Norman Goodman (Dustin Hoffman) is sent by the government to investigate with a specialist team, including Beth Halperin (Sharon Stone), a biochemist, and Harry Adams (Samuel L. Jackson), a sceptical mathematician. But shortly after their mission begins, they lose contact with the surface and begin to experience a series of strange phenomena. |
