A study of one of the most prominent and versatile writers of the early seventeenth century. Middleton collaborated with several contemporaries including, Dekker, Shakespeare and Rowley and a chapter is devoted to each of these. Dekker and Middleton's 'The Roaring Girl' is examined in detail as is his intertextual relations with Shakespeare and, arguably his masterpiece 'The Changeling' written with Rowley.
