MOSAIC 1 is designed for college ESOL students who are at a high-intermediate level of proficiency. MOSAIC 1 is appropriate for students who score 440-450 on the TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language), 135-145 on the CELT (Comprehensive English Language Test), 50-60 on the Michigan Proficiency Test or 65-75 on the Michigan Placement Test. The MOSAIC 1 programme is known for its flexibility and ease of use. The texts in the MOSAIC 1 programme are filled with a variety of skill-building exercises, lively activities and interesting, practical information about life in the United States and Canada. A new supplement to accompany the "Reading Skills Book" is a student audiotape which can be packaged with the text. The student audiotape contains several of the readings from the text, allowing students to hear as well as to see the selections and to practice vocabulary and pronunciation skills. New boxes called "What Do You Think?" now occur in each chapter. These boxes ask questions and make suggestions to help students develop their critical thinking skills. |
