Synopsis: |
The Chancellor of the Exchequer, in his budget statement of 28 November 1995, announced that the Government would consult on: a range of proposals to encourage people to make provision for long-term care, and in particular on so-called partnership schemes; and the possibility of extending to members of occupational pension schemes the option to take a variable pension, which would provide a larger pension in later years, when people are more likely to need long-term care. This document takes that consultation forward. Part one provides an overview of the Government's propsals, which should be of general interest. Part two explores some particular aspects of the proposals in more detail. Part three provides background information on current arrangements. |
