Synopsis: |
A particularly wide variety of objects came before the Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works of Art ending 30 June 1996. They ranged from the Master of St Bartholomew's double-sided painting "The Jouney of the Three Kings" to an ancient Egyptian statue of Amenhotep II, from a Chippendale lady's secretary to a collection of about 800 architectural drawings from Trentham Hall in Staffordshire, and from an Anglo-Saxon glass beaker to a marble bust of Henry Fuseli by the sculptor, Edward Hedges Baily. The aggregate value of the 22 objects for which the Department of National Heritage acepted the Committee's recommendation that an exprt licence be deferred was #28,124,095. |
