The Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme provides compensation to victims of violent crime. In 2006-07, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA - 'the Authority'), which covers England, Scotland and Wales, received 61,000 applications and paid some GBP 192 million to victims."Compensating Victims of Violent Crime (HC 100)" considers whether the Authority and the Panel provide a more cost effective and better quality of service to victims of violent crime than they did when the National Audit Office and the Public Accounts Committee last reported on this subject in 2000.
