In today's developing and transitional economies, how do organized business interests influence social and other public policies that shape inclusive development? This fascinating study explores under what conditions business can be expected to support or accommodate progressive social policy and whether the rise of big business fundamentally constrains inclusive development processes. Based on conceptual and historical analyses, the book also includes contemporary country case studies on Brazil, Chile, India, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, Russia and South Africa.
