Synopsis: |
This is a comprehensive book for trainee teachers and trainers in the lifelong learning sector. It completes and is the highest level of our lifelong trio of textbooks (Scales: Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector and Armitage et al: Teaching & Training in PCE) and offers thorough, extensive and comprehensive coverage of the modules covered by the higher level courses (DTLLS; PGCE) offered in lifelong learning. As well as a logical progression through the essential teaching; learning; planning; and assessment aspects of teaching, it looks at other areas which are covered on the higher level qualifications such as mentoring/coaching; equality and diversity; employability skills; specialist teaching. As well as being readable, it is scholarly and critical in its discussion of the issues, challenges and opportunities in lifelong learning. The intention for the second edition is to maintain the ethos of the book whilst updating the book throughout as well as reviewing its content in line with the reviewers' suggestions. In particular, there will be coverage of 14-16 education, as well as tackling the issue of HE level teaching in an FE environment.Importantly all the policy related sections will be updated, whilst avoiding overly detailed references to particular interventions. In addition, in order to minimize repetition in the text some chapters will be reviewed and merged accordingly, and there will be additional reading where appropriate at the end of chapters.
