It is 1986, and a new generation of the Maxwell family is farming at Wester Rullion. Young Paul Maxwell, with his cousin Ryan, are determined that together they will rebuild the dairy herd and restore the farm's fortunes. With the support of their grandparents - and with plenty of hard work - it seems they will achieve their dream, although they must first overcome the bureaucratic hurdles of EC milk quotas and increasing regulation. But they are both handsome young men, and romance will also play a large part in their lives. Ryan has set his heart on marrying Molly Bates, daughter of a prosperous local farmer, and Paul - abandoned by his mother as a young boy - is adamant that he will never fall in love. Then, Tina Donnelly comes to Wester Rullion to nurse his grandmother Rachel, and Paul finds himself increasingly drawn to the lovely, recently orphaned young woman with no family of her own... |
