When the blood-spattered, Felicity Raine stumbles into the police station reception and confesses that she has just murdered her husband, Raymond, Dl Joe Rafferty thinks he has never seen a more unlikely murderer. And when, after her collapse, he is finally able to question her, this feeling increases. Slender and half the size of her now confirmed dead husband, she seems confused and admits that she can't actually remember doing the deed...Rafferty wonders whether someone hasn't set the other-worldly Felicity up to take the rap for her wealthy husband's killing. The possible candidates include Raymond's cousin Michael, the junior partner in the successful family fashion business, and Stephanie Raine, who harboured a scarcely concealed lust for Felicity's husband, her son. And when Rafferty learns of the terms of the trust that the late fathers of Raymond and Michael had set up, which disbars Felicity from inheriting anything, he digs deeper. |
