Synopsis: |
The light scalar mesons have been posing serious problems to both theorists and experimentalists. Even nowadays there is no consensus whatsoever on the quark structure of these hadronic resonances, some of which are very broad. Nevertheless, the light scalars are of tremendous importance for a better understanding of QCD and strong interactions, with far-reaching implications for nuclear physics as well. The Scadron70 Workshop managed to bring together many of the leading experts in the field, with invited talks of spokespersons of practically all major experimental collaborations in particle and hadronic physics, besides invited talks given by some renowned theorists. Simultaneously, the Workshop allowed to honor one of the pioneers of scalar mesons, viz. Prof. Michael D. Scadron, at the occasion of his 70th birthday. |
