Two world wars have left their mark on the city, social revolutions have changed forever the ways in which we educate and amuse ourselves, and modern tastes have consigned to history the fashions of our forebears.Remote and yet familiar, the historic Nottingham which comes to life in these pages will be remembered by many but will fascinate a great many more. Much that was of value has been lost but Nottingham has prospered, and the justifiable pride which modern citizens take in it will be enhanced by this selection of the best of the city's past. |
