Telecommunications hardware and software developers, system engineers and other technical personnel and managers engaged in the design, implementation and testing of wireless systems.(Note: This course requires the following textbook Applications of CDMA in wireless/personal Communications by Garg, available from Prentice Hall). This course will provide an understanding of CDMA (IS-95 Standard) in wireless/personal communications. The course begins by providing an introduction to spread spectrum and CDMA. Next, architecture, interfaces, services, messages and call flows in the TR 45/46 IS-95 CDMA system will be discussed. The evolution path for IS-95 CDMA systems toward third-generation (3G) systems will also be explored. Additionally, many aspects of CDMA will be explained including physical layer, data link and signaling layer, speech processing, power control and handoff, and RF engineering and facility planning.
