Description: |
The language used in the explanations is simple; the material presented in an organic but unobtrusive way, aimed at offering instructors a guide for their lesson in class, and students a tool for their preparation and follow-up at home. |
Synopsis: |
For use in intermediate and advanced courses of Italian for English-speaking students, this book reviews the basics of Italian grammar and explains in detail aspects of the morphology, syntax, and semantics of contemporary Italian. Rather than presenting the material within the single framework of a school of linguistics, the authors focus on different problems with a variety of approaches that they have found to be effective over the course of their teaching careers. The coverage of Italian morphology and syntax is comprehensive and the various areas of grammar are presented systematically in 'blocks.' The book also offers innovative analyses of verb morphology, mood and tense system, as well as extensive word lists for the various grammatical categories. The language used in the explanations is simple; the material presented in an organic but unobtrusive way, aimed at offering instructors a guide for their lesson in class, and students a tool for their preparation and follow-up at home. |
