Synopsis: The Northeast-Indian State of Arunachal Pradesh is formed by the easternmost part of the Himalaya - a remote region bordering Bhutan, Tibet, Yunnan and Upper Burma. It has been secluded for the last 65 years, and thus is perceived as the 'Last Secret of the Himalayas'. The region's elevated hilltops are inhabited by 50 ethnic groups who are culturally very much different from each other, yet form a fascinating unity. Both, Tibetan, and Burmese types of Buddhism are found, the majority of peoples, however, follow animistic spiritual traditions. Over the centuries these proud peoples have developed extraordinary and highly unique cultural traits. "Himalaya" documents their religious customs and beliefs, their festivals as well as their art: weaving, woodcarving, dances and traditional architecture. The unique musical traditions of the peoples of Arunachal, unknown in the Western world, can be heard on a CD, which is included in this publication.
