This is the second tongue-in-cheek Bob Burns Investigates mystery (sequel to 'The Mallorca Connection'), and the droll Scots detective is once again aided by his two unlikely sidekicks, the stunning, game-for-anything forensic scientist, Julie Bryson, and the keener-than-smart rookie cop, Andy Green. When Andy becomes the unwitting recipient of GBP100,000 in used notes at a filling station outside the little Scottish seaside town of North Berwick, the trio are drawn into a web of murder, intrigue and skulduggery, as the action shifts to Sicily, New York and a remote Hebridean island. The arrival of a gullible young Italian as the island's new owner leads to some hilarious misunderstandings, as the line between between the good and bad guys grows increasingly blurred. Could there even be a Mafia involvement? After many a Highland shenanigan, including a vital kilt-raising stunt by Andy Green, the mystery is finally solved - or is it? |
