Description: |
Images of Cardiff Laboratory Theatre's production The Lesson of Anatomy (1974) juxtapose Mike Pearson's original solos with those from its restaging in 2014. This startling photographic document is a poignant record of the impacts of the passage of time on the performer. |
Synopsis: |
On 5 July 1974, the newly-founded Cardiff Laboratory for Theatrical Research (later Cardiff Laboratory Theatre) presented its first professional production The Lesson of Anatomy: The Life, Obsessions and Fantasies of Antonin Artaud in the Sherman Arena Theatre, Cardiff. On 5 July 2014, forty years to the day and in the same venue, Mike Pearson recreated his solos from the original production. This book juxtaposes black and white photographs by Steve Allison (1974) and Russ Basford (2014), in a startling and poignant record of the impacts of the passage of time on the performer. |
