Synopsis: |
Professional Skills in Action provides a learning program for students with real-life situations that demonstrate important skills and appropriate behaviors for achieving success on the job. Employers continually comment that recent graduates of all types and levels of career programs lack the professional skills needed to succeed on the job. Teaching these "soft skills" can be a difficult instructional task and this program is designed to provide instructors with material on which to base further exploration and discussion. The six segments include the following topics: finding a job, communicating effectively, offering good customer service, demonstrating professionalism, applying ethics to work situations, solving problems, and achieving success once on the job. The segments present common job situations in a variety of settings including a medical office, construction company, medical billing company, and an auto repair shop. Each scene is accompanied by text that lists the important points that students should watch for in the live action. The high-production video, complementary text and interactive games is designed to reach all types of learners. |
