Ever since Star Trek first aired on television in 1966, it has had a strong influence on pop culture. In fact, Trekkies ushered in the era of fandom, which has its roots in the very first comic book and sci-fi/fantasy conventions that began in 1969--the same year Star Trek went off the air. In 1976, due to the show's ongoing popularity in syndication, Topps released the first full-colour collectible Star Trek trading card series featuring images from the classic television series, biographical information on the cast and characters, episode synopses, as well as behind-the-scenes photos exclusive to the card series. This book includes the fronts and backs of all 88 Star Trek trading cards as well as a complete set of "chase cards"--the 22 rare and hard-to-find stickers which were originally sold one per pack--all of which now sell for hundreds of pounds on eBay. This latest addition to our Topps series is guaranteed to please die-hard Star Trek fans and collectors and appeal to a whole new generation of fans. |
