Synopsis: |
The International Conference on Advanced Composite Materials and Structures, held in Taiwan, May 19--23 1986, was both a timely forum for evaluation of recent advances in this field and recognition of the significant role played by the development of composite technology in countries such as Japan, the Republic of China, South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong. The topics discussed were analytical modelling, numerical calculation, material testing, non-destructive evaluation, design methodology, and processing and manufacturing aspects of composite materials and structures. This volume contains over 50 internationally contributed papers and centres on the fundamental understanding of processing--structure--property relationships for advanced composites with constituents made of metallic and non-metallic materials. It provides a broad overview of developments in the areas of composite failure modes, interface effect, dynamic characteristics, test method, design analysis, predictive methodology, analytical evaluation, damage tolerance, environmental effects, materials characterization and their applications. |
