Synopsis: |
"Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy were the indisputable stars of MGM musicals throughout the 1930's and 40's, and their real life romance was likened to a Shakespearian tragedy when the chief of MGM outlawed their relationship. Although they both married other partners, their romantic connection lasted for over thirty years, right up until Jeanette died in 1965. Diana Taylor's trilogy is fiction based on fact and gives the duo the life they may have had if not for the interventions which kept them apart. Instead of the miscarriages Jeanette suffered, she produces four healthy children in the first book, 'til The End of Time. The second book, Melody Immortal, depicts the ups and down most parents experience when raising teenagers, and finally in 'Love in Any Language' the couple become grandparents and Nelson takes his beautiful wife on a long overdue honeymoon with some amusing and traumatic scenarios. It is fifty years since Jeanette died and was closely followed by her grieving partner, yet still their movies are selling on DVD around the world and their music scores hits galore on You Tube. The song may be over, but the melody lingers on." |
