Synopsis: |
Frances Josephine Hamlyn Goodban was a volunteer nurse throughout World War One. She served a total of 11,276 hours for which she received the princely sum of 15 - not enough to have paid for her rail journeys between the various hospitals where she nursed her many grateful patients. More than one hundred British and Commonwealth wounded servicemen were happy to write their messages of gratitude in her autograph book. These messages, along with original verses and drawings never before published, have been faithfully reproduced in this book. The author has also included accounts of the military actions of World War One where many of the wounded men sustained their injuries." |
