Synopsis: |
Membrane technology now enjoys a wide range of applications in the management of the water environment; nevertheless it still retains much unrealised potential. With the aim of expanding its role through refining and upgrading membrane technology?s applications to the water environment, nearly three hundred delegates from 35 countries participated in the IWA specialty conference on Water Environment-Membrane Technology. From the 132 oral and 69 poster papers that were presented by many of the world?s leading experts in membrane technology and its applications, 58 have been selected for this issue following extensive peer review. Topics covered include: membrane bioreactors, fouling control, molecular microbiology, drinking water treatment, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis, novel membranes and processes, wastewater treatment and reuse, and a number of significant case studies. These papers provide high-quality in-depth coverage of all kinds of research issues related to membranes for water treatment and will surely contribute to the opening up of new horizons for "membrane technology for a better water environment." |
