Synopsis: |
Every animal leaves some indication of its presence or its passing - a track, a dropping, a feeding sign or just a depression in the grass. By teaching the reader how to read these signs, this book offers information about animal behaviour, feeding patterns, movements and relationships with their environment. It allows the reader to look first at the track or sign, then, by means of keys, to determine the animal group or species responsible. The keys refer the reader to detailed descriptions and illustrations. To enable quick identification, the book is arranged into chapters on tracks, droppings and bird pellets, feeding signs, other signs (such as mud-wallows, scent-marks and shed skins) and skulls. |
