Synopsis: |
The films, from the archive of the National Institute of Agricultural Engineering and its Scottish counterpart, record the operation of the various machines while they were under test in the field. Brian Bell has selected material for two DVDs, preparing a full commentary for each. The programmes were filmed without sound and, apart from the commentary and light cutting, they have been left as they were made. The majority are in black-and-white, though some of the later ones are in colour. The original material was professionally filmed and edited. Machinery enthusiasts will enjoy footage of items ranging from the Marshall combine to the Caby sugar-beet harvester. Altogether there are over fifty machines, split between the two programmes. Experimental prototypes from the NIAE itself are included. |
