This edition collects the five 2009 shortlisted stories, along with 12 stories written at the Caine Prize Writers' Workshop, taking place in Spring 2009. The collection will be released in time for the announcement of the award in July 2009. Previous winners and entrants include Segun Afolabi, Leila Aboulela, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Brian Chikwava, Mary Watson, Binyavanga Wainaina and Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor. The four African winners of the Nobel Prize for Literature, Wole Soyinka, Nadine Gordimer, Naguib Mahfouz and John Coetzee are patrons of The Caine Prize.
