Die Vorlesungen von Adolf Hurwitz uber Allgemeine Funktionentheorie und Elliptische Funktionen erschienen 1922 in Band 3 der Grundlehren der Mathematischen Wissenschaften des Springer-Verlags. Der Herausgeber R. Courant wurde dabei von C.L. Siegel unterstutzt und erganzte den Hurwitzschen Text durch einen Abschnitt Geometrische Funktionentheorie. Der "Hurwitz-Courant" war sofort ein Standardwerk, das eine ausgezeichnete Ubersicht uber die Funktionentheorie von Weierstrass und Riemann gab und Generationen von Mathematikern begeisterte, die - je nach Gemutslage - dem "Hurwitz" oder dem "Courant" hochstes Lob gespendet haben. Das vorliegende Buch ist ein Nachdruck der Hurwitzschen Vorlesungen. Konrad Knopp sagte dazu: "So abgeschliffen und prazis, dass man fast zu muhelos und geradlinig an die Ziele gefuhrt wird." |
