Tadao Ando born in 1941 in Osaka is one of the most important contemporary Japanese architects. He developed a radically new architecture characterised by the use of unfinished reinforced concrete structures. Using a geometric simplicity which reveals a rich and subtle approach to space, the buildings share the serenity and clarity that characterise traditional Japanese architecture.
