Synopsis: |
The papers assembled in this book were presented at the biannual Symposium of the International Association for Statistical Computing in Neuchatel, Switzerland, in August 1992. This congress maintains the tradition of providing a forum for the open discussion of progress made in computer oriented statistics and the dissemination of new ideas throughout the statistical community. The papers are published in two volumes according to the emphasis of the topics: volume 1 gives a slight leaning towards statistics and modelling, while volume 2 concentrates on computation. This volume brings together a wide range of topics and perspectives in the field of statistics. It contains invited and contributed papers that are grouped for the ease of orientation in ten parts: statistical modelling; multivariate analysis; classification and discrimination; symbolic data; graphical models; time series models; nonlinear regression; robust and smoothing techniques; industrial applications: pharmaceutics and quality control; and Bayesian statistics. |
