Description: |
This report surveys the problems encountered in the treatment of respiratory tract infections and evaluates the role of oral cephalosporins, now among the most frequently prescribed antibiotics. |
Synopsis: |
Respiratory tract infections (RTIs) remain one of the most common infections seen in general practice. The selection of the appropriate antibiotic for treatment is complicated by the variety of pathogens involved, the problem of resistance of several of these pathogens, as well as the rising number of immuno-compromized patients. This symposium report gives an overview of the problems encountered in community-acquired RTIs and evaluates the role of oral cephalosporins, now among the most frequently prescribed antibiotics. Also included is an extensive literature survey of the clinical experience with Cefetamet Pivoxil. Highlighting the latest advances in the field, this collection of papers provides important reading for everyone concerned with respiratory tract infections. |
