Synopsis: |
John Baldessari's artistic investigations of music have almost gone un-noticed. With more than 50 works (paintings, photographs, videos and mixed media) this book illustrates Baldessari's complex relationship with text, image and sound, and uncovers, for the first time, the centrality of music in his uvre. In his early works he had employed aesthetic strategies which would be labelled as 'Cross-over' today. This book features important pieces such as Baldessari Sings LeWitt - his setting to music of Sol LeWitt's theoretical reflections - recent works from 2007 and many less well-known pieces. Published on the occasion of the exhibition of the same name at Kunstmuseum Bonn and Bonner Kunstverein, May - July 2007. |
